Mall Expansion Wing Opens

Mall at Green Hills hosted a grand opening for the new wing of diverse retailers on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29 -30 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell, Robert Perlmutter, managing partner of Davis Street Land Company, Hank Woerner, general manger of the mall, and Councilman Jim Shulman. The ribbon-cutting took place on at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 29 and stores opened at 10 a.m.  
 
New retailers that opened in the expansion wing include The Cheesecake Factory, Davis-Kidd Booksellers, Z Gallerie, Panera Bread, Cole Haan, L’Occitane, BCBG Max Azria, Coldwater Creek, Elisabeth, Lucky Brand Dungarees, Marmi Shoes, and Sigrid Olsen.  The expansion wing also includes newly relocated and expanded retailers Brighton Collectibles and Mimi Maternity. The more than 80,000 square foot expansion introduces many retailers for the first time in the Nashville market and continues to position The Mall at Green Hills as the premier mall in the region. Announced store openings in 2006 will include Tiffany & Co., Louis Vuitton, Sephora, and Godiva Chocolatier.  
 
“This expansion brings many new trend-setting retailers to the Nashville market,” said Woerner. “The mix allows us to continue and grow the best fashion, entertainment and décor retailers in the region.”  
 
The New stores  
 
With a lavish décor of French limestone floors and decorative columns, hand-painted fabrics, contemporary lighting and an abundance of cherry wood, guests know they are in for a special experience when dining at The Cheesecake Factory. The unique, upscale casual dining restaurant offers more than 200 menu selections including appetizers, pizza, pasta, seafood, steaks, salads, sandwiches, and more. The decadent menu includes specialty dishes such as Chicken Madeira, Miso Salmon, Cajun Jambalaya Pasta, and The Factory Burger. Living up to its name, The Cheesecake Factory boasts 50 delicious varieties of cheesecakes and desserts including the White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle® Cheesecake and the new Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake.  
 
With its flagship store moving to the mall an anchor tenant with 30,000 square feet, the loyal customers of Davis-Kidd Booksellers feel right at home in this new, convenient location. Davis-Kidd’s Nashville store has consistently been named the winner among bookstores in “best of” polls by media outlets year after year. The savvy retailer hosts many in-store special events, reading by top authors, celebrity readings and more. A popular destination within the store is the Bronte' Bistro Café.   Named from Parisian slang, “bon chic, bon genre” meaning good style, good attitude, noted French designer Max Azria sells his BCBG women’s collection in more than 110 company-owned stores worldwide.

Coldwater Creek features a plethora of women’s apparel and much more in this dynamic store. Shoppers may select from the hottest fashions ranging from dresses, jackets, blazers, pants, shorts, skirts, sweaters, and vests along with jewelry and accessories. Gifts and home furnishings along with an art gallery are among the offerings at this new store.  
 
Cole Haan is one of the most respected and quality-driven footwear and accessory names in the world. The name comes from Trafton Cole, who created the brand with an emphasis on quality and incredible craftsmanship, and Eddie Haan, who made it all about service to the customer. Today it brings that heritage to all of its products, including men’s and women’s footwear, belts, hosiery, handbags, small leather goods, fine outerwear and watches.

Panera Bread is bakery-café where freshly made bread and sweet goods are produced on site and the company mission is “A load of bread in every arm®.  The bakery-café showcases the art and craft of bread-making, helping consumers become true bread connoisseurs. Other delicious items on the menu include baked soufflés, bagels, soups, sandwiches, hand-tossed salads, pastries, and sweets.  
 
Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation Benefit  
An invitation-only event with Charlie Daniels and Friends was held on Friday, Oct. 28 from 7 - 10 p.m. that included a concert by the Grammy-winner, exclusive VIP shopping in the expansion wing, cocktail reception, complimentary valet parking and more to benefit The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation. Celebrity guests included Brenda Lee, Buddy Jewel and Darrell Waltrip.  The evening’s emcee was award-winning radio personality Gerry House, host of the morning radio show The House Foundation on 98 WSIX-FM. Event sponsors were Thoroughbred Motorcars, WSMV-Channel 4, WSIX-FM, and NFOCUS Magazine.   The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to funding programs that provide the greatest benefit to cancer patients and their families, including new programs in cancer research, education, and patient and family services. All of these are done in memory of internationally renowned comedienne Minnie Pearl.  
 
Special family activities were planned throughout the grand opening weekend through Davis-Kidd Booksellers in honor of its 25th anniversary along with community partners First Tennessee Bank, Vanderbilt University Athletics, Nashville Lifestyles Magazine, and Baptist Hospital.  The first 400 shoppers entering the new wing received $50 Mall at Green Hills gift cards, a new mall gift card program launched in late September.  
 
The Mall at Green Hills is located in Nashville, Tennessee at 2126 Abbott Martin Road and is owned, leased and managed by Davis Street Land Company.
